Setting up a business in Singapore is famously quick, but the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) mandates five baseline requirements before you can register:
-
Company Name: Must be unique, approved by ACRA, and free of trademark infringements.
-
Resident Director: At least one director must ordinarily reside in Singapore (a Singapore Citizen, Permanent Resident, or EntrePass/Employment Pass holder).
-
Shareholders: Minimum of 1 and a maximum of 50 (for a private limited setup). Corporate shareholders are permitted.
-
Company Secretary: A qualified, local resident secretary must be appointed within 6 months of incorporation.
-
Initial Capital: A minimum paid-up capital of just S$1 is required to kick off.
