How Foreigners Can Register a Company in Singapore

Singapore is one of the few major economies that allows 100% foreign ownership of a private limited company. However, there are specific rules that foreign entrepreneurs must follow to incorporate legally.

The most important requirement is the local director. Your Pte Ltd must have at least one director who is ordinarily resident in Singapore—meaning a Singapore citizen, a permanent resident, or a holder of an eligible work pass (like an EntrePass or Employment Pass). If you do not have such a person in your network, you can engage a corporate service provider (CSP) to provide a nominee director service. Furthermore, by law, all foreign businesses and individuals must engage a licensed CSP to register their company; you cannot file directly with ACRA as a non-resident. The entire process can be handled remotely without visiting Singapore, and you can appoint a local corporate secretary and registered address through your CSP.
